THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Health Minister Veena George has said in the Assembly that the government is not planning to review the Covid regulations in the state. While stating that the lockdown restrictions cannot be extended forever, the minister said that the existing regulations were implemented after consulting with experts.

The minister also hinted that there could be a third wave in the state. The number of patients in the state is likely to become double or more in the coming days. "If the third wave hits before the vaccination is complete, there will be a serious situation in the state," the minister said while responding to an adjournment motion moved by K Babu MLA.

At the same time, K Babu alleged that the police were being used to impose fines on the people in the name of Covid restrictions. Opposition Leader VD Satheesan too lashed out at the government over the use of police force to impose fines in the name of Covid restrictions.
