KOZHIKODE: The police have registered a case against 100 people who tried to offer bali at the Varakkal beach on Karkkidaka Vavu day. The case is for trying to violate Covid regulations while they exist. The case has been registered against many including the priests of the Varaikkal Devi temple under the Epidemic Diseases Act.

The offering of bali was not allowed in public because of the restrictions imposed due to the surge in Covid-19. The government had directed to offer bail at homes. Bali was offered online in many parts of the state as per virtual directions.

There was no bali darpanam at any of the famous bali offering centres in the state such as the Thiruvallam Parasurama Temple, the Maidan adjacent to the Aluva Siva Temple and Thiruvananaya. However, devotees flocked to pay a visit to the temple. Bali offerings were restricted to a few private temples.
