Online classes leading to health problems in children, schools will be opened if centre approves, says Minister Sivankutty

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Online classes using digital devices are leading to serious health problems, said Education Minister V Sivankutty. A study by SCERT has found health issues in students, the minister told the assembly.

He said the children complain of headache, eye and neck problems. The minister said 36 per cent have headaches, 28 per cent have eye problems and 36 per cent have neck problems. The children need special attention and exercise. He said only 25 per cent of students exercise for at least half an hour.

The vaccine will be given to children as per the central directive. The minister said the schools would be opened with the approval of the central government and Covid control agencies. Schools will be opened in phases.
