KOCHI: A decision to open theatres will be taken only if the test positivity rate drops, said Minister Saji Cherian. Theatres can be opened if the test positivity rate touches 8%, he said.
Granting entertainment tax exemption is under the consideration of the government. Film Exhibitors United Organization of Kerala (FEUOK), an organization of theater owners, had opined that it was not right to exclude theaters alone, even though allowed opening of industrial and commercial establishments throughout the state.
FEUOK had met in Kochi the other day over this issue. The meeting also decided to ask the government to exempt theaters from entertainment tax and fixed electricity charges for the time being.
