THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister V Sivankutty has come up with a response to BJP state president K Surendran who criticized the hoisting of the national flag in the CPM offices. "It is paradoxical that those who do not even know how to hoist the national flag talk about nationalism. A leader hoisted the flag while tying the national flag upside down. It is important to think that this was done by the state head of a national party", the minister said.

There are definitely some things we need to remember on Independence Day. The history of the betrayal of the freedom struggle by a section of people is of particular interest to anyone studying the history of the Indian freedom struggle. Today, the forerunners of those who talk nonsense about nationalism are those who survived the apology to the British. Sivankutty added that nationalism is as per their convenience.

Surendran had today said that the CPM was convinced that India had gained full independence after Narendra Modi came to power. Although the senior leaders of the CPM have not yet come to hoist the national flag, they too will take part from next year. He also scoffed that the CPM would start chanting Vande Mataram after five years. Meanwhile, the BJP was ridiculed when K Surendran first hoisted the national flag upside down at the BJP state committee office. The explanation given is that it happened because the rope twisted.
