THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CBI has filed an FIR against former chief minister Oommen Chandy and five others in the solar sexual abuse case. The Thiruvananthapuram unit filed the FIR in a special CBI court on the harassment complaint filed by the woman also an accused in the solar case. The FIR has been filed against Oommen Chandy, K C Venugopal, Adoor Prakash, Hibi Eden, A P Abdullakutty and A P Anil Kumar on charges of sexual harassment and financial fraud.
The Kerala Police had been investigating the sexual abuse complaint for four years but could not find any evidence against anyone. Following this, the complainant approached the government asking to hand over the case to the CBI. The complainant handed over the details of the case to the Delhi headquarters of the CBI.
The complainant stated that Oommen Chandy sexually abused her on August 19, 2012 at Cliff House, the official residence of the chief minister. However, the special investigation team appointed by the state government could not find any evidence of the complainant going to the Cliff House. The investigation was based on the statements of the police officers and personal staff who were on duty at the Cliff House on that day. The probe team had also submitted a report on the matter to the government.
