NEW DELHI: The third wave of Covid is likely to hit India by October. The report on it was submitted to the Prime Minister's Office by a panel formed under the National Institute of Disaster Management.
The report also indicates that the spread of the disease in Kerala and other states is on the rise. The report said children are likely to develop the disease as adults in the third wave.
The report said that in the event of such a large-scale outbreak in children, the existing facilities in hospitals across the country would be inadequate and hence the number of paediatric wards and paediatric ICUs in all hospitals should be increased.
The number of doctors, staff, ventilators and ambulances should also be increased. Experts also recommend that children with illness and disability be vaccinated as early as possible as a matter of priority.
