Body of youth who gave statement in tree felling case found in decomposing state, cops call it murder

KANNUR: Body of a youth who gave a statement to the police in tree felling case was found in a decomposing state. Police confirmed that it is the corpse of Prajeesh (33) of Prasanthi Nivas in Chakkarakkallu. Prajeesh has been missing since the 19th. During the investigation, the body was found tied up in a sack from a canal near Karunan Peedika in Pothuvacherry.


The corpse was beginning to rot. Kannur Assistant Commissioner PP Sadanandan said that it is believed that the statement given in the tree felling case was the reason for the murder. The accused in the case were arrested on August 9 in connection with the smuggling of timber worth Rs 4 lakh. Prajeesh is the son of Shankara Warrier and Susheela of Prasanthi Nivas in Chakkarakkallu. Praveen and Prasad are brothers.


Prajeesh's body was shifted to Kannur Government Medical College for postmortem.
