KOCHI: The accused in the diplomatic gold smuggling case is reported to have investments in a gold mine in Africa. There are indications that political elites are also involved. A media outlet reported the matter.

The suspect, who was arrested by the NIA and customs and later released on bail, has investments in the mine. He shared the information with the other accused in the case. Central investigative agencies have launched an investigation into the matter.


He did not disclose any investment in the gold mine during questioning by central investigation agencies. There are indications that he traveled abroad even after getting his passport back on bail.
