All those with Covid symptoms will be subjected to RTPCR test: CM Vijayan

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Chief Minister said that all those who show symptoms will be subjected to RTPCR test. 1,000 samples will be tested as part of sentinel surveillance in districts where more than 80 percent of people over the age of 18 have received their first dose of vaccination. The test will be performed on 1500 samples in districts where the first dose is administered for less than 80 per cent people over 18.

Tests are not required for those who have taken two doses of the vaccine and for those who do not show symptoms and those who are Covid positive within a month.

Laboratories that do not report a test result, negative or positive, within 12 hours will have their license revoked.


District authorities will inspect the antigen and RTPCR test kits used in each lab. Laboratories that use substandard kits will have their licenses revoked. In the last 24 hours, cases have been registered against 7,537 people in the state for not wearing masks. Legal action was taken against 6,480 people for not maintaining social distance. A fine of Rs 13,44,100 was levied recently in this regard, the CM said.
