THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Speaker MB Rajesh has objected to the action of the Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR) in excluding Jawaharlal Nehru from the poster of the 75th anniversary celebrations of independence under the name of Azadi Ke Amrit Mahotsav.
"There are disagreements with Nehru. There are reasons to criticize. But there is no doubt that his contribution to the freedom struggle and the formation of the concept of modern India was invaluable. First the Malabar rebels and now Nehru are out of the history of the freedom struggle. Because the ICHR is tasked with fabricating the history of the 'new India'. The new 'country' is not a secular-democratic country. It is a religious nation. Its father is different. "Gandhiji is the father of secular India," he wrote on Facebook.
