NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court Friday stayed the Plus One exam scheduled to start from Monday. A bench led by Justice A M Khanwilkar stayed the decision to conduct the examination citing Covid situation alarming in Kerala.
Supreme Court’s vital decision was at a time when the exams were scheduled to start from September 5. The court said the exams are being adjourned till September 13 and the case would be considered again on September 13. The government informed the court to give a reply in a week.
A plea was filed by Rasool Shan, a native of Keezhattingal in Thiruvananthapuram alleging that the decision to conduct the exams was causing mental distress to students and parents alike.
The TPR in Kerala is above 15%. Experts warn of a third wave in the country in October. The petitioner had said that it was the students who were getting into trouble due to the state government's sternness for political gain and that forcing children who had not been vaccinated to take the written test was unfair.
The petition also sought valuation on CBSE model and then declare results.
