Accused held for burying woman in kitchen

sindhu

IDUKKI: The accused in the incident of killing and burying a woman in the kitchen has been arrested. The police arrested Binoy over the death of Sindhu (45) of Kamakshi. He was arrested while hiding in the plantation area of Perinjamkutty. The police were blamed for not arresting the accused. The police initially believed that he may have fled to Tamil Nadu.

The body was found buried in the kitchen of Binoy’s house last week. The body was found three weeks after Sindhu went missing. A search led by Sindhu's relatives saw parts of her hand in the kitchen. The body was found when the police arrived and removed more soil.

Binoy planned cleverly to prevent the police dog from sniffing. After the murder, he removed her clothes and buried the body in a plastic cover. He smeared chilli powder all over the pit to keep the dog away from smelling.

Despite receiving a missing complaint of Sindhu, there were complaints that there has been a major lapse on the part of the police in the investigation. Sindhu's youngest son had told police that he saw Binoy working in the kitchen the day after his mother went missing. The police were not ready to check this properly. Binoy fled the area two days after Sindhu went missing. The relatives had pointed out that he could not have escaped if the police had conducted a serious investigation.
