NEW DELHI: The central government has decided to resume 'Operation Devi Shakti', a mission to rescue and repatriate Indians stranded in Afghanistan. Government sources said the mission will resume later this week or early next week when the international flights begin services.
India suspended their rescue mission to deport Indians following the closure of Kabul airport. The ITBP has been directed to provide quarantine facilities for those arriving from Afghanistan.
The BRICS summit chaired by Prime Minister, will focus on the Afghan issue, terrorism and the reform of UN international organizations. Pakistan which played a key role in the formation of the Taliban government in Afghanistan, is trying to bring Taliban's attention to Kashmir. India is trying to get the support of various countries in the world including the Kashmir issue, which is an internal matter of India.
About 300 people should be brought back to India. With the return of US troops from Kabul airport, the return of Indians from Taliban-controlled areas was uncertain. The country has decided to bring them back.
