KSRTC's financial woes continue; salary will be delayed this month; finance dept informs that it has no money to pay

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The salary to the KSRTC staff for this month will be delayed. The government has not yet provided the required financial assistance of Rs 65 crore. The finance department informed the corporation that it had no money to pay.

In August, the employees had blamed the MD for not paying their salaries till August 10. At the same time, KSRTC has not implemented salary revision for ten years. The unions claim that the government is deliberately delaying pay because of their opposition to K-Swift.

Five-and-a-half years after the pay contract ended on February 28, 2016, even preliminary negotiations into the new contract have not been able to take place. The salary had to be renewed as per the recommendations of the 10th Pay RevisionCommission. However, it did not happen. In other departments, there have already been two pay revisions.
