ADIMALI: In a shocking revelation, accused Binoy Xavier said that his neighbour, Panikkankudi native Sindhu, was buried alive in the kitchen. Binoy told the police that he also tried to set Sindhu ablaze using kerosene. According to Binoy, he noticed Sindhu talking to someone on the phone on the evening of the 11th of last month. This led to an altercation between the two. Following this, he beat her and tried to strangle her. When Sindhu became unconscious, Binoy assumed her to be dead. He then decided to dig a pit at the place where there was a pond near the house. However, he soon abandoned the attempt as the remains of a dead goat had been found there and it seemed unsafe to bury the body in the backyard.
He then carried her to the yard and set her ablaze using kerosene. At this time, Sindhu began to cry loudly. Binoy immediately put out the fire by pouring water from a nearby jar. Sindhu lost consciousness again. Following this, he assumed her to be dead and dug a pit in the kitchen at 12 o'clock at night. Sindhu began to groan once again when Binoy tried to place her in the pit. With this, Binoy took a plastic cover and covered her face using it. He then trampled on her chest. Sindhu's ribs were broken during this. Following this, she was buried in the kitchen.
The clothes that Sindhu wore at the time of the murder could not be found. Binoy told police that he had thrown them at the Ponmudi dam. Police have found a Kerosene lamp used to burn the body, a machete and a shovel used for digging. The police team led by Idukki DySP Emmanuel Paul conducted a meticulous collection of evidence as it was a murder without witnesses.
