Nipah: 16 more samples test negative, 46 out of 47 persons test negative for virus so far

KOZHIKODE: The test results of 16 persons who were in the contact list of the 12-year-old who died due to Nipah have returned negative. With this, out of the total 265 people in the contact list, 46 out of 47 tested negative for the disease.

Of those on the contact list, 68 are in hospital. Of these, 12 have symptoms including fever. The cabinet meeting directed to bring in the antibodies used for the treatment of Nipah disease from abroad and to immediately test those who show symptoms. The cabinet assessed that the fear of Nipah in the state is going away.

Despite the negative results, the government has suggested that everyone on the contact list complete the quarantine. Only those who are facility at home to observe quarantine will be sent to home isolation.
