Two including woman killed in fire at hotel in Palakkad

PALAKKAD: Two people have been killed in a fire at a hotel in the district. The fire broke out at Hill View, a four-storied hotel at Nellipuzha in Palakkad Mannarcaud. Police said Muhammed Basheer, a native of Thalakadathur in Malappuram and Pushpalatha of Vilayur in Pattambi are the two dead. Akbar Ali of Palakkad and Riyaz of Mannarcaud sustained minor injuries.

The accident happened this morning at 3.15 am. The hotel was functioning in the ground floor and lodge on the other floors. The fire spread from the ground floor. As soon as the fire broke out, the employees of the hotel ran outside. On being informed, the fire force reached, doused the flames and in a search found the woman and the man lying unconscious in the room on the top floor. Although, they were taken to the hospital, their lives could not be saved.
