Student commits suicide after guide rejects research paper, relatives allege harassment of teachers

PALAKKAD: A research student committed suicide after her research paper was rejected by her guide. Krishna Kumari, daughter of Krishnankutty, a native of Kollengode, committed suicide yesterday. She was found hanging in the house.

Her relatives alleged that some teachers of Amrita College in Coimbatore, where she was a research student, deliberately tried to disrupt her research. They said she took the drastic step out of resentment at the constant harassment of teachers. Her sister told media that her guide had rejected Krishna Kumari's research paper for no particular reason and that she was deeply saddened that her work had been in vain for so long.
