THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government has started deliberating on the possibility of opening schools in the event of the decision to open colleges. The General Education Department is of the view that the opening of schools could be considered after assessing the impact of reopening colleges. With the state continuing to record a large number of Covid cases, the authorities are concerned about how it will affect children if the schools are reopened. With just five more months left in this academic year, the authorities are planning to complete the classes online. There is also a plan to open the classes in December and hold the exams in May.
Meanwhile, Education Minister V Sivankutty said the issue of opening the school would be decided in consultation with the Chief Minister. The attitude of the teachers' unions towards the immediate reopening of the school is also unfavorable.
