THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Tuesday rejected the narcotic jihad remark made by the Pala Bishop. While stating that such a term should not be used in any way, the CM said that the statement made by the Pala Bishop was unfortunate. He said that the general public does not agree with the statement and that Kerala is a breeding ground for secularism.

The Chief Minister said that social evils should not be associated with any religion and that caste and religion should not be used for dividing people. "The tendency of equating social evils with some section of society needs to be nipped in the bud. Those giving prominence to social evils or engaged in unlawful activities or acting against general public interests should not be clubbed with any particular section of society. Doing so will not strengthen societal or communal unity. Instead, it will only serve to exacerbate the communal differences in society," he said.
