Sabarimala airport

Any airport project is not one that gets approved immediately soon after applying. With the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) asking a few questions, it should not be assumed that Sabarimala Airport will never become a reality. The DGCA had denied permission for Kannur airport for more than five years. The DGCA and the Airport Authority will raise many doubts. That is their job. It should not be seen as negative development.
The government should take care to change things so as to give satisfactory answers to their questions. It is a mistake that Kerala sent the report without the signature and seal of the company officials who conducted the feasibility study. It is understood that the report signed by the two agencies that conducted the study will be sent to the Centre immediately. It is a fact that some will act to scuttle any project of the state or centre. It is the only curse of Kerala. The arrival of the airport will not only benefit any particular religious community but also the human community as a whole.

The government should take all necessary steps to implement the Sabarimala Airport by all means. If the Chief Minister presents the issue directly to the Prime Minister, all unnecessary obstacles are likely to be removed. It will benefit five crore Sabarimala pilgrims and about 20 lakh expatriate Malayalee families in four districts.

Although the DGCA has stated that new airports will not be allowed within a 150 km radius, new airports will be allowed in Delhi and Mumbai under special consideration. Kerala will not fail to point out all these issues. Please don’t turn this issue into a controversy and we can expect the government would pay special attention to move forward without pitting people against each other over the issue.
