KONDOTTY: The DRI on Wednesday seized 5 kg of heroin worth Rs 35 crore from an African woman at the Kozhikode airport. The heroin was found hidden in bags of Bishalo Soko, 40, of Zambia. The market price of heroin is around Rs 7 crore per kg. This is the biggest drug bust in the history of Karipur airport.

The woman arrived in Karipur on a Qatar Airways flight from Doha at 2.25 am on Wednesday. She reached Doha via Cape Town. The DRI team from Kozhikode took the woman into custody after receiving secret information.

The woman told the investigators that she had received instruction to deliver the heroin to an agent in Kozhikode. The DRI team is looking into whether the woman had arrived in India earlier.
