THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Former CPM general secretary Prakash Karat criticized religious leaders for interfering in women's freedom of marriage. Women have their own views on love and marriage. Prakash Karat criticized the religious and caste leaders who speak on the issue of love jihad for saying that our girls are a sign of tribalism.

Karat alleged that the BJP is tactfully trying to bring the Catholic Church and the Christian clergy to their side. The Catholic Church should try to understand the true nature of the BJP. The BJP used Pala Bishop's controversial remarks to create divisions among the communities. In an article in Deshabhimani, he said the Communist Party was aware of the threats posed by various extremist organizations and their ideologies among the Muslim community. Karat also made a serious allegation that extremist views have risen to a small extent among Christians in the article.
