Marriage registration: Permission of Chief Registrar General no longer required

marriage-

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The permission of the Chief Registrar General is no longer required to register a marriage without appearing directly before the Local Government Secretary.

However, after many pointed out that this would cause delays in marriage registration, the government issued an amended order exempting the marriage with the special permission of the Chief Registrar General of Marriages (Common). The permission is to register online using facilities including video conferencing. The new order will bring relief to many, including those who have to go abroad immediately after marriage and those who are married abroad.
