Kanhaiya Kumar, Jignesh Mewani likely to join Congress on Tuesday

NEW DELHI: A report has claimed that CPI national executive member Kanhaiya Kumar and Rashtriya Dalit Adhikar Manch (RDAM) MLA Jignesh Mewani are likely to join the Congress on Tuesday.


Earlier, it was rumored that the two would join the Congress on October 2, Gandhi Jayanti day. However, sources said that the two have decided to join the Congress on September 28.


According to reports, Kanhaiya Kumar has already held multiple talks with Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi. It is learnt that the former student leader has received some clear assurances from both the leaders.

Sources close to the party said that Jignesh Mewani, an MLA from Gujarat, may be made the state working president of the Congress. At the same time, Kanhaiya Kumar will be tasked with strengthening the party in his home state of Bihar.
