KOCHI: It has been hinted that it was Monson Mavunkal, self-proclaimed antique collector, who arranged a hideout for Swapna Suresh, one of the main accused in the diplomatic gold smuggling case via Thiruvananthapuram Airport. Monson is believed to have used his high ranking police connections to arrange a hideout at home. The central investigative agencies had initially suspected that Swapna and her team had received support from the police.

Swapna and her team had left the capital city after the smuggled gold was seized. The police had received secret information that they had fled to Kochi. Yet the police did not try to arrest them. Swapna and her team fled at a time when there were extensive police checking on roads day and night following lockdown restrictions. This led to suspicion. When the media reported that Swapna and her team had entered Kochi, the Kochi City Police just conducted a checking for namesake.

Monson's house is a safe place to hide without fear. Most modern security systems were arranged. In addition, a large posse of security guards were in front of the house. As the beat box was placed in front of Monson's house as per the instructions from above, the police is not able to enter the house and examine even if anything is suspected. As his connection with former DGP surfaced, suspicion has been intensified.
