Girl dies after throat slit by jilted lover in Pala St Thomas College

KOTTAYAM: In a bizarre incident, a jilted lover allegedly killed his classmate by slitting her throat in Pala St Thomas College. The victim has been identified as Nithinamol of Thalayolaparambu in Vaikkom. Nithina (22), a student of food processing technology was murdered by her classmate, when she was returning after her final exam. The incident happened Friday morning at 11.30 am.

The youth, who was waiting in the college premises slit her throat using a sharp weapon, a paper cutter knife. The incident happened in front of other students. Although the seriously injured Nithina was taken to the hospital, her life could not be saved.

Police said love failure is likely to be the reason for the murder. The accused identified as Abhishek Baiju, a native of Koothattukulam, has been taken into custody.
