KALAMASSERY: The Motor Vehicle Department imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 after a 17-year-old boy was caught driving a scooter without a license. The plus-two student was seen roaming in the scooter in the pretext of buying milk for his home. A notice was issued to his uncle, the owner of the vehicle, asking him to pay a fine of Rs 25,000.

The 17-year-old was caught at Kummancherry junction near Cusat. They summoned the boy's uncle, owner of the vehicle, and fined him. The vehicle inspectors said they would file a case under the Juvenile Justice Act against the student who rode the scooter.

The officers of the motor vehicle department said a license will not be issued to the boy till he turns 25. A 16-year old boy had the other day died in an accident in Kalamassery. In this situation, the enforcement RTO G Ananthakrishnan had formed a special squad to find 'small drivers'.
