KOCHI: The Kerala High Court has criticized that the police have not yet understood how to behave while dealing with the public. Justice Devan Ramachandran said that strict action should be taken against the police officers who misbehave with the public and the higher officials should ensure that they intervene in the matter properly.

The High Court was hearing a petition alleging that police officers in Kochi had threatened a complainant. The single bench criticized the the police for not complying with court even after giving directions given several times. The petition was filed by Shiny Santhosh, a resident of Ernakulam, questioning the action of the Kochi South police.
