WAYANAD: Top leaders continue to leave the congress party. The latest to quit the party is P V Balachandran, a member of the KPCC executive committee and former Wayanad DCC president. He ended his 52-year association with the congress. Though the future decision has not been announced, it is expected that he will join the CPM. It is learned that Balachandran had a discussion with the CPM leadership. Talking at the press meet, he said the Congress could not defend the BJP and that Pinarayi Vijayan is a good leader.

P V Balachandran distanced with the Congress leadership during the parliamentary elections held in 2019. Balachandran was against the nomination of T Siddique from outside Wayanad in the assembly elections in Kalpetta. His main allegation is that the allies have lost hope as the national and state leaderships of the Congress failed.
