THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said the government has not withdrawn all the cases registered in the state during the Sabarimala and the anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) protests. The chief minister informed the assembly in writing that the crime branch is examining the status and nature of the cases registered.
The chief minister was replying to the question raised by PTA Rahim MLA. Pinarayi Vijayan said the present status and nature of Sabarimala and citizenship protest cases are being examined and the crime branch IG has been directed to take further action.
Just before the last assembly elections, the government had decided to withdraw the cases related to the protests against women entry in Sabarimala and cases against those who protested against the citizenship law. The government had also issued an order to withdraw the cases that were not of serious nature. There were 2636 cases registered in connection with Sabarimala protests and 836 cases registered in the state for protesting against the citizenship law.
