Plus One admission: All applicants won't get seats, says minister V Sivankutty

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister V Sivankutty said that not all those who applied for Plus One admission will get seats. "1,31,996 seats would be required to provide seats to all those who applied. There are not that many seats. However, there are enough seats in the Polytechnic and Vocational Higher Secondary", he said.

A total of 4,65,219 candidates applied for Plus One and 2,70,188 got admission after two allotments. Of the merit seats, only 655 seats remain.

2,01,489 had secured admission in the first allotment. In the second allotment, 68,048 new candidates were allotted. According to the admission rate for the last five years, only 3,85,530 applicants are likely to seek Plus One admission.


"As per the admission rate of the last 5 years, there are a total of 91,796 applicants left in the state for admission. If all the applicants applied for Plus One admission, a total of 1,31,996 applicants would have to be admitted. Allotment for community quota seats in aided schools, management quota admission in aided schools and admission in unaided schools will start from October 7, 2021. Along with this, if the vacant sports quota seats are converted into general merit quota seats, the total number of seats available in the state is 1,22,384. Apart from this, 97,283 seats are available in vacation higher secondary, polytechnic and ITI sectors", the minister said in a press release.
