Gold smuggling case accused Sandeep Nair released from jail

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Sandeep Nair, the accused in the gold smuggling case, got released from jail on Saturday. He was released from the jail as his detention under COFEPSA came to an end. Sandeep was lodged in Poojappura jail. He was released from prison a year and three months after his arrest by the NIA.

Sandeep Nair had turned approver in the gold smuggling case and was granted bail in several other cases. After his release from jail, Sandeep told the media that he stood firm by what he had said in court and would tell the rest later.

On Friday, the Kerala High Court had quashed the continued preventive detention of prime accused Swapna Suresh under the COFEPOSA.
