NEW DELHI: The Adani Ports on Monday announced that it will not handle any containerised cargo from Iran, Pakistan and Afghanistan from November 15.
“Please be informed that with effect from November 15, 2021, APSEZ will not handle EXIM containerised cargo originating from Iran, Pakistan and Afghanistan. This trade advisory will apply to all terminals operated by APSEZ and including third party terminals at any APSEZ port till further notice,” the company stated.
It is learnt that the controversy over the seizure of 3,000 kg of heroin from the Mundra port in Gujarat prompted the company to take such a big step.
On September 13, the DRI had seized containers with nearly 3,000 kilograms of heroin from the Mundra port. The cargo arrived from Afghanistan via Iran's Bandar Abbas port. A couple from Tamil Nadu and Afghan and Uzbek nationals were arrested in the incident. A total of eight people were arrested in the case.
