Rains continue in Pathanamthitta, water level rising in Pamba, Manimala rivers, Kakki Dam likely to open on Monday

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Heavy rains continue in the hilly region of Pathanamthitta. The water level in the Pamba river is rising. Minister Veena George said those on the banks of the river should be extra vigilant. The water level subsided about three meters below noon today. But then it rose again. The three rivers Pamba, Manimala and Achankovil rivers are flowing above the danger level. The minister said the Kakki Dam is likely to open tomorrow. The flow of water to Kakki Dam has increased. The dam will be opened considering the morning rainfall and water level.

People were instructed to move to safer places from areas prone to flooding along the riverbanks. The minister also requested that vigilance instructions be followed.
