Red alert declared in Pamba dam, two shutters to be opened on Tuesday morning

PATHANAMTHITTA: The two shutters of the Pamba dam, part of KSEB Ltd's Sabarigiri hydropower project, will be opened on the 19th (Tuesday). The order was issued to allow the water level in the Pamba River to rise above a maximum of 10 cm in populated areas. Currently, there is a red alert in Pamba Dam as well.

Those on the river banks should be especially careful. People should heed the warnings of the Disaster Management Authority and move to safer places. Steps are taken as part of precaution.

In the first phase, the water level in Pamba Triveni was raised by only 10 cm. The water level in Pamba, Achankovil and Manimala rivers are still above the danger level. 116 camps have been opened in the district. It has 1047 families and 3584 people.
