Lovers commit suicide in matter of hours, reason unknown

KOLLAM: A boy and a girl who were neighbours and college mates committed suicide in a matter of hours. The shocking incident happened at Puthuval in Pathanapuram.

Jebin V John (22) of Kurumbakara Palavila Puthen Veettil and his neighbour Sona Merin Mathew (22) of Puthuval Thirumangad Bijo Bhavan were the two dead. Jebin was found hanging yesterday morning at 7.30 am and Sona at 11.30 am. Though the two were taken to the hospital, their lives could not be saved. The reason for the suicide is not known. Their friends of Pathanapuram St Stephens College said the two were in a relationship.

Police said Sona may have taken the extreme step after knowing Jebin’s death. The bodies kept at the mortuary of Adoor taluk hospital will be handed over to their relatives after the post mortem.
