Learning from YouTube, 17-year-old Malappuram girl gives birth at home without help

MALAPPURAM: A 17-year-old girl gave birth at home without any help. The girl, who is a victim of abuse, gave birth after learning about childbirth on YouTube. The girl cut her umbilical cord by herself. The shocking incident took place at Kottakkal in Malappuram district. The girl was admitted to the hospital three days later. The baby girl and her mother, who are staying at Manjeri Medical College, are in good health, hospital sources said.

A 21-year-old man from the neighborhood sexually abused the girl, impregnating her. The girl hid this information from her family until she gave birth. The girl's mother is visually impaired. Her father is working as a security guard. Police arrested the neighbour who abused her under the POCSO Act. According to the police, they liked each other. An investigation has been launched into the incident.
