THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With 95 percent of the eligible population receiving the first dose of the Covid vaccine, Kerala has become capable of granting further relaxations in social restrictions, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said. The schools in the state that remained shut for over a year in the backdrop of the pandemic will reopen on Monday. The Chief Minister said that everyone should remain cautious.
'Although children were able to study their lessons with the help of online systems, they found it difficult to learn and play along with their friends. There were also challenges posed by the lack of education that should take place directly in schools. That situation will change from tomorrow.
With 95 percent of the eligible population receiving the first dose of the Covid vaccine, Kerala has become capable of granting further relaxations in social restrictions. There has been a decrease in the number of new cases and patients undergoing treatment. It is in this context that the government decided to reopen the schools with utmost vigilance. Classes one to seven, classes 10 and 12 will start from November 1 and the rest from November 15.
It is very important to keep the schools functioning in a safe manner. The support of teachers and parents alike is essential in this regard. For this, the guidelines prepared jointly by the Health Department and the Education Department in collaboration with other departments need to be strictly followed. Important instructions have been passed on to schools and from there to parents,' the CM wrote on his Facebook page.
