Nearly one million children arrive in schools after a gap of one and a half years

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A grand beginning for Pravesnolsavam in schools of the state after a gap of one and a half years. Students arrive in schools wearing masks. Nearly ten lakh students reached schools today. Education Minister V Sivankutty inaugurated the state level inauguration of Pravesnolsavam at Cotton Hill UP School at 8.30 am Monday morning. The minister said that they have received the support of all to take the education sector forward adhering to Covid norms. He said that security will be provided to the children in the schools as their mothers take care of them. The parents need not panic after sending the children to school, informed Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

The schools were all set to give a new experience to the children returning to schools after a long hiatus. The children were welcomed to the school in a celebratory manner adhering to Covid protocol. After checking the body temperature, the children were given sanitizers and then sent to the classes. The teachers made sure that children don’t go to classes in groups. The seats were arranged according to the number of children adhering to Covid norms. The classes will be conducted on a shift basis. Teachers and voluntary organizations decorated the classrooms and surroundings to welcome the children. Although schools opened today, classes 8 and 9 will start on November 15 to avoid rush. Plus One classes will begin on November 15.

The education department had clarified earlier that they will not force anyone to come to schools. 2282 teachers who have not taken the vaccine have been asked not to come to schools. The classes will be till noon in the first two weeks. Attendance also will not be taken. The only activity is to understand the children and bring them back to the learning space.
