Writer P Valsala selected for Ezhuthachan Puraskaram

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Noted Malayalam writer P Valsala has been selected for this year’s Ezhuthachan Puraskaram, the Kerala government’s highest literary honour. The award carries a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh and a citation. The award is named after Ezhuthachan, the father of the Malayalam language.

The award is given for the overall contribution to literature. The award was announced by Cultural Affairs Minister Saji Cherian.

Her first novel is Nellu. This novel was later made a film by Ramu Karyat in the same name. She has bagged Kerala Sahithya Academy Puraskaram, Padmaprabha Puraskaram, C H Award, Katha Award and the Muttathu Varkey Puraskaram etc.

Ente Priyapetta Kathakal, Gouthaman, Marachottile Veyilcheelukal, Malayalathinte Suvarna Kathakal, Verittoru America, Ashokanum Ayalum, Valsalayude Sthreekal, Pembi, Vilapam, Nizhalurangunna Vazhikal, Pokkuveyil Ponveyil are some of her main works.
