THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government will intervene to bring the big-budget Malayalam movie Marakkar, starring Mohanlal, to the theatres. As part of this, Minister Saji Cherian will hold discussions with film organisations on Friday.

Earlier, the minister had said that the government was interested in releasing the film in theatres. However, talks between the producer and the theatre owners' association, FEUOK, had failed the previous day. Producer Antony Perumbavoor had demanded that the theatre owners should pay Rs 40 crore as advance for the film. He also demanded that if the film is released in theaters, it should be screened in all theaters in the state for the first three weeks.
