Diwali celebrations: Bursting of firecrackers banned after 10 pm

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Use of fireworks has been limited in the state as part of the Diwali celebrations. Permission to burst crackers is granted from 8 to 10 p.m. The state government restrictions on firecrackers is as per the order of the Supreme Court. In the context of Covid, it was earlier suggested that the celebrations should be in compliance with Covid norms. It is also recommended that noisy fireworks shouldn't be used within 100 meters of hospitals, courts, educational institutions and places of worship. At the same time, the State Pollution Control Board had earlier recommended the use of fireworks that are low in chemical and noise pollution and do not create dust particles.
