Toll rises to three in Palarivattom accident, Ashiq succumbs to injuries

KOCHI: A youth who sustained injuries in the accident that happened after the car in which he was travelling met with an accident on the national highway last Monday morning, succumbed to it. He has been identified as K A Muhammed Ashiq (25), son of Ashraf of Kattanbazar at Vemballur in Thrissur. Ashiq, who sustained serious head injuries died late last night. With this, the death toll rose to three.

The car which was going to Edapally from Vyttila lost control and hit a tree on the median. The accident happened when the car suddenly swerved to avoid hitting the bike in front.

Former Miss Kerala and native of Attingal Ancy Kabeer (25) and Miss Kerala former runner up Anjana Shajan (24) of Thrissur, had died on the spot itself. Abdul Rehman of Mala, who was in the driver’s seat, is presently undergoing treatment. A preliminary investigation by the Palarivattom police found that the car was speeding.
