TA was given the most in Sukumara Kurup’s case in the history of Kerala police

Where is Sukumara Kurup? Although the Kerala police have not yet been able to find an answer to this question, all the senior police officers who took part in the investigation have come to the conclusion that Kurup is no longer alive. Although Kurup retired from service, it is believed that he may have died of a heart attack in northern India. The police do not believe that Kurup will return again. However, Kurup's case still stands as one of the most special cases in the history of criminal investigations in the Kerala Police.

In the Kerala police, this is one of the case Travel Allowance (TA) was given the most. Police teams had gone to 13 countries in the Gulf and several states in India to investigate. Had also gone to gambling centres in Las Vegas. The Kerala police had spent the most in terms of TA.

The police had arrested more than 100 people while travelling the whole world in search of Kurup. In Kerala alone, 32 people resembling Kurup was arrested. One will understand that it is not Kurup only during interrogation. The innocents were harmed. The Interpol too had arrested many Kurups.

The police had doubts on the death of Sukumara Kurup from the very beginning. The case was investigated by DySP Haridas, a competent police officer in Kerala. Haridas had some doubts about the incident which could have turned into an accident case.

Even though it was the house where the death happened, there was no sadness or tears on the face of anyone in Sukumara Kurup's house. No one had any difference.
Kurup used a very old car instead of his brand new one. The investigating officer also had doubts as to why modern Kurup used the old car.

Haridas, who returned to Kurup's house within three hours on suspicion got the smell of chicken being cooked. Meat is not cooked in any Nair family’s house till the functions related to the death are over. This doubled the suspicion.

The intelligent Haridas without registering it as an accident case registered the 'death' of Sukumara Kurup as a murder case. Eventually, a major crime was uncovered. It was not Kurup who was killed but it was Kurup who committed the murder.

When Sukumara Kurup is being discussed via the film Kurup, how can one not search Kurup’s past. Kerala has not forgotten the crime of murdering an innocent to extort the insurance money. Even though it remains as a long pending case, the officers no longer expect Kurup.

Retired SP George Joseph Mannusseri, the detective inspector of SIT then said he may have died of heart ailments. Kurup, a heart patient sought treatment for heart disease at government hospitals in Bihar and Bengal under the fake address ‘Joshi, son of Dr Sarala Joshi’. Joseph pointed that he last appeared in the OP of Rook Narayanpur Public Health Centre on the border of Bengal and Bihar on January 14 in 1990. The doctor recommended emergency surgery and three months’ rest, but he fled the scene for fear of being caught.

George Joseph claim that based on circumstantial evidence, there is no doubt that Kurup may have died. He said that Kurup may have laid to rest as an orphan. However, as the age, address and photo of the dead have not been received, it has not been recorded in the official records of the Kerala Police that Kurup is dead. That case file continues to be long pending (LP). With the hope that the file can be opened at any time if evidence is found.
