If film shoots are disrupted, will be dealt strongly, says CM

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has taken a tough stand against the agitation of the Youth Congress and Mahila Congress organizations for disrupting film shootings. This is a land which has the freedom to speak, to work and to associate freely. The government will not sit idle if anyone tries to prevent people from working, the chief minister said while replying to the submission of M Mukesh.

This is a country where fundamental freedoms are allowed by the Constitution. An encroachment on those rights is an attack on the country's constitution. Attacking filmmakers in the workplace is a declaration that such constitutional matters do not apply to them. The chief minister informed the house that no one will be allowed to take law into their own hands and will strongly oppose any encroachment on freedom of expression. The chief minister said the government will ensure civil liberties, rule of law and democracy.

There are unscrupulous anti-socials who dictate what to do and what to wear. Unleashing violence at shooting sites and prohibiting anyone is fascist attitude. The chief minister warned that no one has the right to decide that they will not be permitted to work and live freely without fear and that strong action will be taken against such attempts.

The outburst that shooting of the film in the name of that actor will not be permitted cannot be seen as an isolated incident and there is a planned decision behind it. The chief minister also demanded that such people should withdraw themselves as this is not a fertile ground for fascist practices.
