Rains to continue today and tomorrow; orange alert in six districts, holiday for educational institutions

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Met Office warned that heavy rains will continue in the state today and tomorrow. Authorities warned of heavy rains in the central and northern districts.

Orange alert has been sounded in six districts. Orange alert is in Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod. Yellow alert was announced in other districts. Authorities said vigilance similar to red alert would continue in all districts.

District collectors announced a holiday for all educational institutions including professional colleges in Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Kottayam, Alappuzha, Ernakulam and Thrissur. Only schools in Kasargod will remain closed.

A holiday has been announced for schools in Nedumangad and Kattakada taluks. Universities of Kerala, MG, Health and Technology have postponed the exams scheduled for today. The renewed date will be informed later.
