sabarimala

PATHANAMTHITTA: The Mandala-Makaravilakku pilgrimage season has begun. The Sabarimala temple was opened at 4.51 pm on Monday. The next three months in Kerala will be devotional days filled with saranam mantras. In the presence of Tantri Mahesh Mohanar, the temple melsanthi VK Jayaraj Potti opened the doors of the sanctum sanctorum and lit the lamp. Today the devotees won't be allowed at the temple. About 8000 people have booked for the darshan tomorrow. But devotees will have restrictions on Sannidhanam for three days. Spot booking and Pampa bathing are not allowed.

Admission is limited to 30,000 people but the number of devotees will decrease due to heavy rains. Currently, the main road on the Sabarimala road from Pandalam to Pathanamthitta is flooded at several places. The water level in Pampa Triveni is also high. The water level in Achankovil and Pampa rivers had risen following the rains. Educational institutions in Pathanamthitta district will remain closed tomorrow due to rains.
