Intensity of rain to reduce today and tomorrow in state, shutter of Idukki dam closed

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Met office on Wednesday said there is likely to be a reduction in the intensity of rainfall in the state today and tomorrow. There is no rain warning in any district today. Rains will intensify in central and northern Kerala from Friday.

Meantime, the shutters of the Idukki Dam opened to flow the water have been closed. The shutters of the dam were closed due to low water flow. The current water level in the dam is 2399.10 feet. The third shutter of the dam was opened on Sunday.

A holiday has been declared for all educational institutions in distressed areas of Alappuzha and Pathanamthitta. The holiday was announced for educational institutions in Kuttanad, Mavelikkara and Chengannur in Alappuzha and in Adoor and Thiruvalla taluks in Pathanamthitta. Schools functioning as relief camps will remain closed, said the officials.
